Proofreader
Job summary
The proofreader has a passion for language and writing, mastery of English grammar, punctuation, and professional experience with editorial style guides. The proofreader helps to ensure the quality of solution briefs, data sheets, presentations, videos, websites, white papers, email messages, and other deliverables. Typically reporting to the managing editor, the proofreader works closely with the accounts team, traffic managers, and designers.
Qualifications
- Degree in English, journalism, communications, or related field
- Proofreading experience and a demonstrated passion for wordsmithing
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat
- Ability to develop familiarity and comfort with IT topics such as big data, cloud computing, servers, storage, virtual machines, security, services, converged systems, and composable infrastructure
Core duties
- Proofread copy at various stages of production—from first drafts to final deliverables.
- Fix spelling, grammar, punctuation, and typographical errors.
- Maintain an in‐depth understanding of client editorial guidelines and ensure compliance with them on every project.
- Ensure compliance with the client’s preferred use of trademark symbols, acknowledgement statements, and all required legal language (such as copyrights, disclaimers, warranty details, privacy language, etc.).
- Champion quality copy while hitting deadlines and communicating openly and clearly with fellow team members.
- Contribute to MarketReach marketing efforts—for example, compiling and sharing project information, contributing your photo and biographical blurb to our website, sharing MarketReach content through social media, and more.
